Stonehenge
Our day trip to Stonehenge also included
stops at Salsibury Cathedral and Bath, for a grand total of nearly 300km,
which is about a million miles. And we went in a "motor coach" which
is a euphemism for "bus with few amenities, like leg room". When
we got to Stonehenge, the tour guide looked at his watch and said, "Well,
if you want to spend an hour at Bath, we need to make this quick.
Be back on the bus in 30 minutes." So much for reflecting on the
majesty of the structure and purpose of these huge rocks. Bath is
the site of an old Roman bath, and my favorite thing was the guide's amused
tone at the thought of these Romans actually spending time bathing!
Their revenge on tourists is to actually convince some to drink the water.
